Enchanting
Crafting requires collaboration! Your help updating these pages is appreciated. |
Jewels, mined by Miners are used by Enchanters along with fragments, essences, and hearts; to make gems for Wranglers to charge. These empowered gems can then be used by Enchanters or Smiths to enhance armours and weapons.
Anyone can gemchant items with charged gems, and you can wear multiple (upto 5) gemchanted items! One piece of equipment can only be gemchanted once.

General Guidelines
All gems become trivial for cxp after 4 levels.
It appears to be the case that more experienced enchanters, relative to the level of the gem, have a better chance of producing a higher quality gem. And of course enchanters like to gain cxp. So... if you want a particular gem made, and need the best quality possible, you might want to go with the biggest enchanter you can find. In normal circumstances, probably best to go with an enchanter who will earn cxp from the work. See the Enchanters Roll for skill levels of enchanters who wish to publicize them.
General Trends

Component Quality to Output Quality
Some data:

- INPUT: 2 superior mining mat, 1 average fragment [averages to "good+"]
- OUTPUT: 2 superior, 9 good [11 total trials]
- Summary:
- Single Upgrade rate estimated: ~15% ~5/33
- Single Downgrade rate estimated: ~ 6% 2/33
- Double Upgrade rate estimated: nil. 0/33
- Double Downgrade rate estimated: ~3% 1/33
- Note: Seems to be the floor of the average of the components that determines output quality.
- Note: more upgrades than downgrades observed.
More Data:
- Gem producer was 17 clvls ABOVE trivial clvl for this gem.
- INPUT: 27 gem, averaged to good quality.
- OUTPUT: 3 legendary, 3 superior, 20 good, 1 average
- Summary:
- Single Upgrade rate estimated: ~10% 3/27
- Single Downgrade rate estimated: ~3% 1/27
- Double Upgrade rate estimated: ~10% 3/27
- Double Downgrade rate estimated: nil 0/27

- INPUT: 25 gem, averaged to average quality.
- OUTPUT: 1 superior , 3 good, 21 average
- Summary:
- Single Upgrade rate estimated: ~12% 3/25
- Single Downgrade rate estimated: nil 0/25
- Double Upgrade rate estimated: ~4% 1/25

- Summary of the Summaries
- if above trivial
- total upgrade rate: (~18%) 15 / 85
- total downgrade rate: (~5%) 4 / 85
- if above trivial
Highly likely that if enchanter is above trivial clvl for the gem produced, your upgrade rate is nearly double your downgrade rate.

List of All Known Gems
It was suggested that this list is not important enough (and redundant with the moulding lists above) to sit on the main enchanting page. Thus, I've move it here: List of All Known Gems
