Transmuter Info

Transmuting is a profession which allows you to convert crafting ingredients to different types and qualities as well as transmute gear from one type to another. The profession item is "A Transmuter'ss Stone" which can hold a maximum of 196 colours (charges). Colours recharge at an average rate of 4 per hour of active playing time. The amount of colours consumed for transmuting crafting ingredients or qualities varies by what you're transmuting with a slight bonus for bulk transmutes. Transmuting a piece of gear costs 64 colours. Transmuter PXP is based solely on number of colours used for a transmute.

Transmute syntax

• transmute <item>: Tells you what other items something can be transmuted into. Example: transmute copper
• transmute [n] <item> to <what>: Transmute items to something different. [n] is optional and some transmutes may take multiple input items. Example: transmute 2 copper to morganite
• transmute [n] <item> quality to <new quality>: Upgrades crafting ingredients in quality. Transmuting quality follows certain ratios (see below). Example: transmute 2 average heart of rage quality to good.
• transmute <item> type to <new type>: Transmutes a piece of armor or weapon to a different type. You may not wear more than one transmuted gear piece at a time and can not transmute weapons to armor or vice versa. Example: transmute spork type to dagger

Transmuting ratios:

4 Crude    = 3 Poor
3 Poor     = 2 Average
2 Average  = 1 Good
3 Good     = 1 Superior
4 Superior = 1 Legendary

Note that the conversion formula is "smart" in that you can (for example) substitute 3 good items for 1 superior when upgrading to legendary (the 3 good ones will be mixed into the transmute as if they were a single superior one). It is also possible to skip over qualities by transmuting say 24 average items directly to 1 legendary.

Transmuting levels

Mining jewels from copper ore are where you'll need to start since the smallest fragment is level 2 minimum. The shards seem to share the levels of the ore they come from, but some of the other jewels have different level ranges. They're within that span though so the ore levels are still a reasonable guide for what you can do when.

A lot of people have satchels full of fragments so unless someone has dumped a bunch of low level materials in the donation box east of Chavee they may be your best bet for getting Transmuter levels fairly quickly.
